Looking for a fiesta that mixes music, mayhem, and a full-on aquatic assault? Welcome to El Chúndara, Peñafiel’s legendary street parade where every August 15–17, locals march through town soaking up the sun—and a few gallons of water hurled from balconies. With the energetic pasodoble La Entrada as their anthem, revelers leap, dance, and chant through the streets in a sweaty, splashy celebration that turns the town into a joyous battleground of brass bands and buckets.

What began as a traditional pre-bullfight parade has transformed into a turbocharged ritual of musical chaos, local pride, and good-natured drenching. It’s loud, it’s fast, and it ends with a defiant shout to “el tío Bernardo”—a mischievous nod to a scandalous mayor from the 1920s. Even kids get their turn in the Chúndara Infantil! So grab your sense of rhythm (and maybe a poncho), and get ready to dance, dodge water, and dive into one of Spain’s most wonderfully wet traditions.
